SoundZapper Beta Terms
Version 1.2 — 2026-09-24
Thanks for helping test SoundZapper. These terms cover your use of the beta. By accepting them you agree to what follows. If you do not agree, do not use the beta.
SoundZapper is offered by Andreas Geißinger ("we", "us"). Our contact details are in the imprint at soundzapper.com/imprint.
1. This is beta software
SoundZapper is a work in progress. It can crash, lose data, behave unexpectedly, or change without warning. Features may be added, changed, or removed at any time, and we do not promise that the app or any online service behind it will be available or keep working. Please keep your own backups of anything you care about. You use the beta at your own risk.
2. Liability
This free beta may contain faults. Keep backups and do not rely on it as the only copy of important work. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every experimental feature will work as expected.
We remain liable without limitation for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, fraud, guarantees we expressly give, and liability under mandatory product-liability law. For ordinary negligence in breaching an essential contractual duty, liability is limited to foreseeable damage typical for this agreement. An essential duty is one needed to carry out the agreement and on which you can normally rely. Other liability for ordinary negligence is excluded only where legally permitted. These limits also apply to our legal representatives and persons acting for us. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected; these terms do not exclude rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
3. Usage data during the beta
During the beta, the app shares usage data with us so we can improve the product. This includes which features you use, scan and pack statistics (for example pack names and how many presets each pack holds), interaction events, and error reports. Automatic usage reports contain no audio or full file paths. Local diagnostic logs can include full paths; we receive exported support logs only if you share them with us. See Settings → Legal → Privacy for details. Preset and pack names are included on purpose, because they help us understand which sounds matter. The data is tied to your account when you are signed in, otherwise to a random install id generated once on your device. The Privacy Notice explains processing purposes and your rights. Accepting these terms does not waive those rights.
4. License
For the duration of your beta access we grant you a personal, non-transferable right to use SoundZapper. A free account and an online account check are required. You may not redistribute the app. Restrictions on reverse engineering apply only to the extent allowed by mandatory law, including lawful interoperability rights. Presets you already own stay entirely yours. Presets you create in the app, including bred or generated ones, belong to you.
4a. Third-party presets and sounds
SoundZapper works with preset libraries that are already installed on your computer — Serum's factory content and packs you bought elsewhere. These terms give you no rights to that content; whatever license came with it still applies. When you share or sell sounds you made, making sure the underlying presets and samples allow it is your responsibility.
4b. Feedback
Ideas, bug reports, and suggestions you send us during the beta can be used by us freely and without obligation — that is how the beta gets better.
4c. Not a backup service
SoundZapper is not a backup tool. We do not guarantee that scans, tags, favorites, or generated presets survive updates or resets during the beta. Anything you want to keep, save it yourself (bred presets you saved to Serum's user folder stay on your disk and are yours).
5. Ending the beta
This beta is free of charge and does not guarantee permanent access. We may withdraw individual access or end the beta, including when testing ends, capacity is limited, terms are breached or security requires it. We will give reasonable notice where practicable; urgent security or serious misuse may require immediate suspension. Any mandatory notice requirements and consumer rights still apply. Ending access does not transfer ownership of your files to us or authorise us to delete your original library. You may stop using the beta at any time. Any paid products or separately purchased rights are governed by their own terms; they are not revoked by this free-beta provision. Sections 2, 4–4c and 6 continue to apply where relevant after access ends.
6. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protection under the law that would otherwise apply where you habitually live. Our imprint, including who is responsible and how to reach us, is at soundzapper.com/imprint.
